Accessibility
The Bilkent University Library Intranet is an internal system designed for Library staff to access institutional information, documents, and services. Access to intranet content is restricted to authorized Library staff using their personal user accounts. Content creation, editing, and management functions are available according to each user's assigned permissions.
The Library Intranet is built using Plone, an open-source content management system. In developing and maintaining the intranet, established web accessibility practices and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) are taken into consideration.
Accessibility Statement
The Bilkent University Library Intranet is developed to support different ways of accessing, navigating, and using internal content. Attention is given to clear page structure, meaningful headings, keyboard accessibility, readable content, appropriate visual contrast, and compatibility with commonly used assistive technologies.
Intranet content is created and maintained by authorized staff across different Library units. As the system is continuously updated, the accessibility of individual pages, documents, images, and other content may vary.
Technical Standards
The intranet uses standard HTML together with accessibility features provided by Plone and modern web technologies. Where appropriate, semantic HTML and WAI-ARIA attributes are used to help browsers and assistive technologies interpret page structure and interface components correctly.
Accessibility is considered as part of the ongoing development, maintenance, and improvement of the intranet. Changes to templates, navigation, interface components, and content presentation are reviewed with usability and accessibility in mind.
Known Limitations
Some older content, uploaded documents, images, or materials migrated from previous versions of the intranet may not fully meet current accessibility practices. These materials may be reviewed and improved as part of ongoing content maintenance and system development.
Reporting an Accessibility Problem
Library staff who experience difficulty accessing a page, document, or function within the Bilkent University Library Intranet may report the accessibility issue to the Library system administration.
When reporting a problem, please include the relevant page or document and a brief description of the difficulty encountered. This information will help with investigating the issue and making the necessary adjustments.
